Maltese Awards 2008 (5/1/08)

On Thursday night May 1st, WP 88.7FM and WPBN-TV celebrated the achievements of their best at the 2008 Maltese Awards. It was a festive night honoring the year’s best.

Friday Night at the Rec: 'Beach Ball Blast' (4/25/08)

WP 88.7FM took part in The Rec Center’s final “Friday Night at the Rec” for the Spring 2008 semester, entitled “Beach Ball Blast” on April 25th. The night was full of fun, activities, and good music provided by WP 88.7FM.

In attendance, were Dymondz (Club Melting Pot) and Keveon (Reggae Spin) serving as DJs for the night, and Dayle-Lishus (Club Melting Pot: Beat Mix) MC-ing and coordinating prize giveaways and activities.

Before the night was over there were 4 lucky winners who won Prize Packages put together by WP 88.7FM that contained CDs, a local artist T-shirt, a DVD, posters, and beach toys. The Prize Winners were Carlos M, Erin C, Raymond D, and Marie. Congratulations!!!

WP887's April Living Room Session with Bullet Society (4/23/08)

On April 21st the revolution known as Brave New Radio began, and continues on. On April 23rd, 2 days after the re-launch, WP 88.7FM presented its first “Living Room Session” as Brave New Radio. Brave New Radio opened up its “living room” to its listeners and the band, Bullet Society. The band were first heard on WP 88.7FM, through Libido Latino (Saturdays 6pm-9pm). Playing fantastic music, Bullet Society put on a great show for WP 88.7FM and its listeners.

Thank you very much to the guys of Bullet Society for coming in and being a part of “WP 88.7FM’s Living Room Session.” The WP 88.7FM Living Room Sessions are monthly events held at WP 88.7FM studios, where the WP 88.7 family invites its listeners into its living room to enjoy the music of local and independent artists.

We are live on the air!! The new WP 88.7 FM is live.

Many thanks to everyone who came to the re-launch of the station yesterday. The whole event was a huge success!

Welcome to the new WP 88.7 FM! On Monday April 21, at 3:30 p.m. - our new sound becomes reality. Join us by tuning into our new and improved station. We really hope that you enjoy what you hear! Next stop...webstreaming???? Well, let's at least start planning.... ;-)

The re-launch is coming!! Listen in on April 21 for our new sound and for the unveiling of the new WP 88.7 FM. A lot has been happening at the station - new paint, new 'kitchen area' and new mirrors in the bathroom even (!). It's almost like the good old days - remember them?

The Mission of WP 88.7 FM: Brave New Radio

What is Brave New Radio? All of us here at WP 88.7 FM believe that Brave New Radio is radio that is unafraid of broadcasting programs and music that is non-mainstream, cutting edge and (at times) completely incompatible with the very notion of 'commercial viability'.

We don't have to play music that sells ads. We just play the best music. Period.

WP 88.7 FM is the last frontier of independent programming - a place where we do not pay attention to what the corporate radio stations play, but go with what our audience wants to hear, and trust in our DJs in what they choose to play. Welcome to Brave New Radio!
